Everyday Makeup
Happy Sunday, everyone! Today I’m talking about my everyday makeup look and the products I use to achieve it. To be fair, my everyday look is usually no makeup because I work from home and Finn doesn’t care what I look like, he just cares about walks. But on those days when I want to look just a little more put together, I have an easy makeup routine that I can throw on quickly and be out the door. I’m by no means a professional, this is just what works for me!
I usually take a shower first thing in the morning, so by the time I start my makeup, my skincare products have had plenty of time to soak in. If you’re washing and moisturizing your face right before starting your makeup, I highly recommend waiting a few minutes. I’ve tried rushing this step before and let me just say, mistaaake. Let that lotion soak in!
I start with a tinted face oil by Kosas in shade 03. I’d never used a face oil as foundation before, but I learned about it on Courtney Halverson’s (@prettylittlefawn) Instagram story and it sounded like the perfect product for my sensitive, dry skin. I apply about 5-8 drops with a damp beauty sponge, but you can also apply the oil directly to your skin and blend with your fingers or a brush.
For concealer I use the classic Covergirl Smoothers Concealer in 710 Light. I’ve been using this concealer stick since high school and it works really well for me. I’ve tried other more expensive products and always end up coming back to this one. I usually apply it lightly under my eyes and cover any blemishes.
Next I use the Kosas Helios Color & Light palette which is a cream blush and highlighter. I’d previously used powders for this step, but since finding this product I now don’t use any! Just the smallest amount of cream blush goes a long way and it blends in so naturally.
For eye makeup, I keep it really simple. Most of the time I don’t wear eyeshadow, but occasionally I’ll use the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette to just even out some tones. I have very fair skin and sometimes my eyelids can look a little purplish, so I use the color W.O.S. (which basically matches my skin tone) to brighten up my eyes a bit.
My eyes are ridiculously sensitive and water at the slightest breeze, so for years I used waterproof mascara because it was the only thing that wouldn’t smudge. I hated how harsh it was on my lashes, but the alternative was constant mascara-tears. Then the amazing Glossier came along and made Lash Slick, my favorite mascara ever. It’s water-resistant, not waterproof, so it doesn’t smudge or run but it also comes off easily with just water. I put on 1-2 coats and eye makeup is done!
My last step is brows. When I’m going out at night, I’ll spend a little more time on them, but for everyday makeup I do a quick coat of Glossier’s Boy Brow in Brown and I’m good to go.
I rarely wear lipstick, but always carry Glossier’s Balm Dotcom with me everywhere. My favorite flavors are Coconut and Rose.
There you have it! 7 products for an easy makeup look that takes 5-10 minutes to apply. Hope this helps with your own everyday makeup routine!
