Living Room Reveal
Hi friends!! I'm so excited to finally be sharing a little home reveal with you! Zach and I moved into our rental in September and plan on staying here for another year while we figure out what's next.
Back in California we lived in a tiny 1BD/1BA bungalow in Culver City, so we were pretty ecstatic to find this 3BD/2BA tri-level house just outside of Denver for even less per month in rent. We had a lot of furniture to buy to fill the new space, though, and that took a lot of planning, bargain hunting, spreading out purchases, and patience.
Of all the rooms in our house, this is the one I've put the most time into so far. It's the first room you walk into through our front door, and it was important to me to create a space that felt warm and welcoming. We already had our coffee table and floor cushion, which I bought on clearance a few years ago, but the rest of the room was empty besides the awesome bookcase the home owners built and left up for us.
Our first big purchase was the couch, which I found from Article. I was so happy to learn they had a payment plan option which made getting the couch of our dreams possible! It's a piece I know we're going to have in our house for decades.
With our brown couch, brown coffee table, and brown floor cushion all on a brown hardwood floor, I needed to lighten up the space dramatically. Simple solution? An area rug! I found this one from Joss & Main for a steal, but I've seen the same rug on multiple sites including Overstock and Amazon so you should compare prices and make sure you're getting the best deal!
To continue brightening up this room, I found a lighter colored accent chair from Target with wood details to tie in with the other wood furniture. Our side table is also from Target and has been on clearance for a few months. I'm sad to see the color we have is no longer available, but I'm hoping they bring it back! Here it is in black if that works with your decor!
To complete this room and really make it feel homey, I bought a few frames, small decor items, plants, and added some personal items. This felt like the perfect space to add a few of my own pillow designs, too!
Some of these decor and furniture items were either gifts or pieces we bought a bit ago, so I've linked everything still available below and for anything that's sold out, I've found similar items.
Hopefully sharing my design process provides you with some inspiration for creating your own space! If it does, I'd love to know about it in the comments below!
