The Breakfast Nook Plan
Hope you had a great end to your summer and are enjoying the fall! The leaves have been changing all over our neighborhood and I just love this time of year. My small business has been keeping me busier than usual, something I’m really fortunate to say during the shutdown. I’ve really missed having time to blog, though, so after some recent changes I’m so happy that I’ll now have more time than ever to share our home renovation journey here!
Recently I shared some of our breakfast nook progress on my Instagram stories, which we just finished painting yesterday. Here are some before, during, and current photos of the space:
I shared our kitchen plan in a previous blog post, but the breakfast nook wasn’t really included. We want to keep the style cohesive with the rest of the kitchen, but because it’s such a cute corner, I want to do something a little special with it!
When coming up with a design concept for a room, I usually draw the space using Adobe Illustrator so I can see how things will look before I buy anything. For the breakfast nook I have two design ideas that are somewhat similar with the key differences being in the details. I’m linking all the products to both looks below along with some more details on how I plan to create each:
Design One has an overall more neutral color palette with some pops of color in the seat cushion print. I love the farmhouse style light fixture and braided off-white rug. We’d really like to retile the floor, but in the meantime we might either paint it or just keep the blue tiles. The print on the cushions is my own, so I’m currently looking into custom options. Fingers crossed I can get these made!

Design Two is bolder with terra cotta floor tiles and a star print on the seat cushions in a matching color. The light fixture is more modern, and I like how the natural colored rug breaks up the bolder color of the floor a bit. The cushion print is another one I’d get custom printed, so really hoping that’ll be an option!

I can’t wait to share the final reveal of our breakfast nook soon!
