It’s REVEAL DAY! We’re so excited to finally share my new home office with you guys! The last eight weeks of this One Room Challenge have been a wild ride. From finding a second layer of wallpaper hiding under the first, to discovering a hole in the floor that once homed bees, the surprises seemed to be endless. There’s still some work to be done — we’ll be refinishing the hardwood floors over the next few weeks and sharing the process here, but we’re SO proud of everything we accomplished over the course of this challenge!

We’ve been working nonstop to finish everything in time and we’re so happy with how it’s all looking! We had a pretty massive delay when we found that hole in the floor a few weeks ago, and we realized we needed a new game plan to complete our room in time.

Neither of us could have guessed we’d still be working on the floor by the fifth week, but we knew going into this challenge any number of things could have been wrong with it. We had to have some flexibility with our timeline and shift the rest of our projects back, but we knew it would be worth it to be able to fix the floor the right way.

Last week we rolled up the old carpet and finally got to see what was going on with the hardwood floor underneath. Overall it’s in amazing condition and we’re so happy to have unstained, unsealed hardwood to bring out the beauty of! One area I didn’t share last week did have some previous damage, though.
Read MoreIt’s week three of the One Room Challenge and this was a BIG one for us! This was the last room in our house with wallpaper, and over the past two years we’ve been working on removing it little by little when we’ve had time from our other house projects. It was a lot more involved than we were expecting with a surprise second layer of wallpaper hiding behind the first, but with a lot of determination, steaming & scraping, we finally got every last bit off the wall.
Read MoreHappy week two of the One Room Challenge! If you’ve been following my stories on Instagram, you might have seen our recent double wallpaper discovery. This isn’t the first time we’ve found a second layer of wallpaper hiding underneath the one we just removed (we had the same situation in our breakfast nook). Even though it makes the removal process longer, we’re getting through it and still can’t wait to see how it looks when it’s all down.

Read MoreIt’s week three of the One Room Challenge and we’re so happy to have made some big progress on our family room! Last week we pulled up the carpet and discovered vinyl floor tiles underneath. Because we couldn’t be sure if they contained asbestos or not, we had to assume they did and stopped all work immediately until the floor was properly sealed. We ordered a floor encapsulant called PerfectPrimer which arrived on Tuesday, just two days ago, and got to work right away…
