Spring 22 ORC Week Six: Painting with Clare
Happy week six of the One Room Challenge! We’re so excited to be partnering with Clare and WOW, this room looks beautiful now thanks to them! Their paint completely transformed the space, and they were incredibly helpful, making the entire painting process easy.
We started by selecting a paint color from their Whites & Lights and No-Fail Neutrals Swatch Kits. The whole interior of our house is painted white, so it made sense to go with a lighter shade. Instead of being overwhelmed by hundreds of options, Clare has a curated selection of the perfect colors. I immediately loved the warmth of the color Whipped and how it looked in the natural light of this room.
Clare shipped everything to our house, including brushes and all the supplies we needed. It arrived really quickly and I couldn’t wait to start painting these brown walls right away. The primer has amazing coverage! I was able to paint the entire room and ceiling in just a few hours with one gallon.
We’re really mindful of what we use in our house, and I love that Clare has all zero VOC paint. Unlike other paints we’ve used in the past, there was no fume-like smell at all. I was able to paint the room with the door closed (to avoid cat paws on the wet paint) but kept the windows open for the breeze. The paint dried amazingly fast and two coats was all I needed for the whole room!
We decided to match the trim to the rest of the room by using the same color, Whipped. Even though the windows and baseboards were already white, the fresh coats of paint brightened them up SO much! This room feels so airy now, it’s hard to believe it was covered in wallpaper not that long ago.
